Helping to guide you

down the path to technology commercialization
TREAT’s Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP) is focused on facilitating technical translation of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology research. Innovators, with a targeted injection of services and capital, can accelerate their process of technology translation. The support offered by TREAT through the CAP is a combination of education and execution services to launch innovators towards their commercialization goals.

Educational Opportunities

TREAT Educational Resources provide an opportunity for rehabilitation technology innovators to learn about the process of product ideation, evaluation, and execution. TREAT has developed and refined a modular and easy to follow process to help clients evaluate, understand, and define the pathway for their rehabilitation and assistive technology before expending significant resources, both financial and time, on development and translation.

Entrepreneur Fellowship

The TREAT Entrepreneur Fellowship Program is a 6 month, immersive cooperative educational and professional opportunity for individuals seeking experience in technology translation and commercialization.

Commercialization Services

Prior to the resource-intensive Engineering phase of product development, our Commercialization Services (fee-based) utilize a structured approach to identify and plan for unforeseen hurdles to positively affect your product’s market viability. Our team of business, engineering, and clinical professionals reviews all aspects of your project to assess, develop, and execute a commercialization strategy that addresses primary risks head-on and helps you to maximize return on your investment.

Commercialization Advancement Cohort

The Commercialization Advancement Cohort is open to entrepreneurs and small businesses in the rehabilitation and assistive technology space who are seeking education, risk assessment, and strategic planning support. The Cohort consists of eight units of online education focusing on early business development milestones.

The program at TREAT guided us through the steps we needed to take to get from idea to product, how to research our market, and what technologies we should consider. Working with the engineers was an incredible experience, and the continuing support has just been amazing.- Jane Hankins, M.S., Doodle Bug
It is a unique opportunity to develop one’s ideas in a rich intellectual and technological environment, with complete confidentiality and support.- Bill Craelius, Dynawheel
The Simbex TREAT Program allowed me the resources necessary to bring my prototype to the next level.- Patricia, Andres, DPT, MS, ATLIS
Meeting the team at TREAT was a lifesaver. The medical device industry requires rigorous standards and safety testing from reputable independent laboratories to consider a product. The testing data and reports from the Thayer School of Engineering exceeded those requirements and opened many doors. I am now in formal talks with one of the largest players in the healthcare field.- Marshall Basham, Auckland Mobility Devices
