Commercialization Assistance Program
TREAT’s Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP) is focused on facilitating technical translation of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology research. Innovators, with a targeted injection of services and capital, can accelerate their process of technology translation. The support that TREAT can offer through the CAP is a combination of education, product development support, and seed funding to further the goals.
All innovators in the rehabilitation, therapy, and assistive technology device community are invite to apply to TREAT with their products. TREAT’s commercialization experts will review applications and provide strategic advice and guidance on all submitted applications. Upon selection to the TREAT program commercialization leaders will work with your product development team to outline an execution strategy that is best suited for the goals and outcomes for your innovation. TREAT will assist with resources where they are most needed to help achieve short and long-term milestones.
Education
TREAT, in partnership with the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, grants TREAT clients access to a wide variety of education resources. The combination of self-service and tailored education programs gives innovators access to learning opportunities unavailable otherwise. There is a large curriculum of licensed and TREAT developed novel educational content for clients to utilize to learn the best practices for device commercialization and product development.
Services
TREAT clients selected for the Commercialization Assistance Program are granted an allotment of in-kind service hours. Services delivered are client specific and need specific. Typical CAP engagements are between 20-200 hours of dedicated hand-on support from industry experts in their fields. Examples of available service offerings:

Funding
TREAT can provide targeted non-diluted capital injections to provide financial support for a variety of product development needs. TREAT, on a triannual basis, selects projects during the application process to provide pilot grant funding to well qualified innovations. TREAT funding awards are typically $5,000-$25,000 per project.
