The Center for Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology (TREAT) was presented with the 2018 Leadership Award from RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America at the organization’s annual conference in Arlington, VA.
The Leadership Award, recognizing TREAT for their significant contributions to the advancement of the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering and ongoing recognition and support of RESNA, was presented to TREAT Co-Director Richard Greenwald, PhD, at the awards luncheon on July 14, 2018.
TREAT was formed in 2010 as a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional, collaborative consortium that provides education, expert consultation and funding opportunities to researchers and innovators for the translation and commercialization of rehabilitation and assistive technologies. TREAT’s experiential learning programs help innovators navigate the challenging commercialization process, leveraging their collective expertise in business development, technology development, and clinical evaluation.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious award from RESNA”, states Dr. Greenwald. “Our mission at TREAT is to help innovators bring to market technologies that improve the lives of people with disabilities, and our partnership with RESNA has amplified our ability to be successful.”
“TREAT is a valued supporter of RESNA, including sponsoring and judging the RESNA Student Design Competition and providing a special award for the ‘Technology Most Likely to Become Commercially Available.’ We are pleased to acknowledge the important work they do to advance the field and benefit people with disabilities,” says Michael Brogioli, Executive Director of RESNA.
In addition to TREAT, the Center on Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer (KT4TT) at the University at Buffalo was also honored with the RESNA Leadership Award.
